The striking yellow-orange eyes of the Curve-billed Thrasher are not exaggerated in this image. This bird is commonly seen in the arid regions of the south-eastern United States and Mexico.

Not seen in this image is a leaky camp site faucet, off to the left, that was dripping down into a bowl-shaped rock. The multitude of desert birds that came in to drink provided an excellent opportunity for photography.
